  1. Virginia Wineries are on the Right Path, Winning Prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.

This marks the fourth year in a row that Veramar Vineyard has received medals from Decanter magazine. “For us this is like the main attraction at a title boxing event! We may be consider the underdog wine region taking on the Champs – France, Italy and California. Not that we can deliver a knock-out blow, to someone that is 100 times, 200 times, or even 1000 times our size…but it is like getting a split decision from the judges .” said Justin Bogaty Winemaker Veramar Vineyard.

Equally we are also extremely pleased that other Virginia wineries like Breaux, Barboursville, Boxwood, and Williamsburg Winery where able to deliver glancing blows as well.

The Decanter World Wine Awards is the world's leading wine competition. 12,252 wines from 47 countries competed in this 2012 competition. Those wines were judged by over 200 judges, including 20% (1/5th) of the world population of Master's of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers. Simply put - winning a Bronze at Decanter is like winning a Gold at any other international competition in the world, and winning a Silver at Decanter is like winning "Best in Show" at any other competition. We are honored and humbled by our wines placing so well in such a prestigious competition!

Located less than an hour from Washington, DC, Veramar Vineyards’ one hundred acre estate is at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Northern Virginia winery in Berryville Virginia and tasting room is open daily from Noon until 5 pm. For more information visit www.veramar.com or call 540-955-5510
